The Obvious Solution
How often do you read or hear a contemporary story that highlights a problem
or an absurdity and think to yourself that Christianity is the solution –
obviously?
For me it used to be occasionally but now it’s every day and all day long.
Part of the reason for that is because of the increasingly self-conscious
push of the Marxist/Communist/Woke agenda but another part of the reason is
that my own Christian worldview is deepening.
Let me explain. At age of 41 when I was redeemed by the Lord, it was through
the agency of dispensational preaching I heard on the radio. There was a
certain comfort in believing that Christ was going to return and destroy His
enemies without any help from me. But within a year or so I began to
question the idea: “without any help from me.”
What I came to learn is that while I am not saved by any of my works, there
is much work to do once saved. It became clear to me through much study that
my salvation had been a recruitment (more like being drafted into the Lord’s
army) and that as a member of the body of Christ, I was to be at work
attacking the enemy of our souls. The gates of hell shall not prevail
against the onslaught of Christ’s church. Gates are stationary; the Church
is on the offensive and reclaiming what was lost.
Instead of simply waiting for Christ’s return, I resolved to begin to study
God’s revealed Word to learn what is expected. The Newer Testament makes no
sense without understanding its abundant references to the Older Testament.
Its laws, its shadows, its poetry, its proverbs, and its prophecies all bear
on what we are to do today.
All people are expected to take every thought captive to the obedience of
Christ. If we were to do so and live according to the Word, we would have no
poor among us, we would have peace, and we would have a flourishing
civilization. The Bible is clear on this if we’ll read it through that lens
of understanding.
So, given that explanation, you can see how the obviousness of the solutions
is on my mind. Here are just a few recent examples:
Item: 3-23-2022; Sitting for her second day of questioning on Tuesday,
President Joe Biden’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court said she is “not a
biologist” and is therefore unable to define what a “woman” is.2 OBVIOUS:
Politicians are more concerned with gaining power than they are with wisdom
and truth, i.e. they hate Christ’s authority. SOLUTION: Select wise judges
steeped in Biblical knowledge. “Moreover you shall select from all the people
able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such
over them to be rulers…” (Exo 18:21) “But the mouth of fools pours forth
foolishness.” (Pro 15:2)
Item: 3-18-2022; Maryland legislators are attempting to legalize infanticide
with a new bill that would effectively decriminalize the killing of newborn
babies up to 28 days after birth.3 OBVIOUS: Religions like Molech worship
were always condemned in the Bible. These “legislators” are making laws in
consistent with their love of death, i.e. they hate Christ’s authority.
SOLUTION: Such people who recommend wickedness like this must be removed at a
minimum. “Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, who write misfortune,
which they have prescribed… For all this His [God’s] anger is not turned
away,” (Isa 10:1,4)
Item: 3-22-2022; Disney’s Pixar will restore a gay kissing scene in the
upcoming kid’s film ‘Lightyear’ after LGBTQ employees and ‘allies’ sent a
joint statement to their leadership accusing the company of censoring
“overtly gay affection” in its children’s films.4 OBVIOUS: Jesus said: “It
would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were
thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to
stumble.” (Luk 17:2) A large entertainment company hates Christ’s authority.
SOLUTION: Men and women of understanding must loudly protest such wickedness
and withhold financial patronage from this wicked company. Leaders who value
their perversity over providing profits for their owners should find
themselves fired.
I could go on (and on). We must begin to be vocal about the OBVIOUS
SOLUTIONS to the problems that confront us. The biblical worldview is true
and living by it will eventually overcome the persistent difficulties of
life.
The Bible defines right and wrong in ways that comport with reality. There
are those whose feelings are hurt because they disagree, but that doesn’t
change the reality that truth cannot be overcome. It can be denied, but it
cannot be changed.
This societal distain for truth telling and truth hearing spotlights a simple
first step we can take. We can and should tell our neighbors that Jeffrey
Epstein didn’t kill himself, masks don’t stop viruses, and only women bear
and nurse children. Oh, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to Jesus Christ, our Lord.
